Hi, my name is Toby Overstreet. I was born at the Pikeville Medical Center Hospital in Pikeville, KY. I grew up in a rural Appalachia town called Elkhorn City in Pine Mountain; it is a population of less than 1,000, about 15 minutes away from the Virginia line. This town is well known as a whitewater rafting destination, featuring Class II-VI rapids down at the Russel Fork River.

I went to Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville, KY, and graduated in 1994. After graduation, I went to Gallaudet and left in 1996, and then enrolled again in 1999 but for one semester. I also went to Montgomery Community College in the early 2000s. But I never graduated from those schools. I currently live in Washington, DC, for 26 years now.

I have worked for American Institute for Cancer Research for 26 years now. I used to work in Dupont Circle for 20 years and now in Rosalyn, VA, for six years. I work as a Donor Data and Reporting Specialist. I have enjoyed working there for many years. You can learn more about what our organization does; https://www.aicr.org.

I enjoy traveling, exploring, and walking around the city. Whenever possible, I love to go hiking and camping, which I used to go with my family while growing up in the Appalachian mountain, Cumberland Mountain. I used to travel a lot before the coronavirus pandemic began. I hope I will go back to traveling once again and travel all over the world.

I am a hobbyist photographer. I love to take photos of anything that interests me, such as locals, doors, houses, architecture, places I visited, and art murals. I love to use filters to make it look great, and it pops with vibrant colors. I used the Snapseed app to make it great, but I have used Apple's camera editor lately, which is very nice but has limited options, unlike Snapseed. You can visit my Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/technogeek75.

I love to learn new things, whatever is on the Internet. Google is excellent, and I can learn a lot from it. I don't know what I would do without it. I am also a techno-geek, which means I love gadgets and technology. I have a lot of devices: two notebooks, three phones, two tablets, one large and one mini. Crazy, right? Ha. I remembered my first computer; it was Tandy from Radio Shack. I used to immerse myself in MsDOS coding and learn how to do commands before Microsoft created the Windows 3.1 operating system. I missed the old days.

I have been helping Patrick with the website, getting resources, and giving feedback and advice for six months. I am currently a webmaster of the website I am developing for the Organization of Unique Learners for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community (OULDHHC). I have a lot of experience building web pages, and I enjoy doing them. I have also enjoyed working with him and look forward to working with him for many more years.
